At one point, it was hoped that the problem of computer viruses could be avoided with a few simple security measures. However, as these measures took hold, those creating the viruses adapted, and created new cyber-strains that were harder to recognize and far more difficult to combat. In response, security software had to rise to the occasion, and in some cases, it has done just that, all but eliminating the virus hazard.
