At one point, it was hoped that the problem of computer viruses could be avoided with a few simple security measures. However, as these measures took hold, those creating the viruses adapted, and created new cyber-strains that were harder to recognize and far more difficult to combat. In response, security software had to rise to the occasion, and in some cases, it has done just that, all but eliminating the virus hazard.
You might have noticed a growing number of commercials and ads for computer security software over the past year. Products in these ads are said to stop spam, put an end to viruses, or protect your computer from hackers and identity thieves. Unfortunately, these functions have become crucial to anyone who owns a computer, because new threats are surfacing regularly.
